San Francisco, CA May 25, 2004—For the first time, physicians around the world have evidence-based guidelines teaching them how to identify symptoms of Lyme disease.

The international group of health care specialists known as “ILADS” has released “Lyme Disease Guidelines” which, among other things, list the many signs of Lyme that can be easily missed by your doctor.

As you’re about to see in this report, patients’ lives can fall through the cracks when they are misdiagnosed.

Samantha Davis’s mom — “Its the nervous system in her eye... that can’t read.”

THIS IS SAMANTHA DAVIS...BEFORE...A DOCTOR DIAGNOSED HER WITH LYME DISEASE.

Samantha Davis — “I lost my ability to walk for three years.”

AFTER CORRECT LYME DIAGNOSIS AND TREATMENT, SAMANTHA RECOVERED.

Tom Coffey — “They installed a feeding tube in my stomach.”

TOM COFFEY WAS MISDIAGNOSED WITH A DISEASE HE DIDN’T HAVE.

Tom Coffey — “I  had six months to live. Some of the best doctors and hospitals in the world... sent me home to die.”

AFTER A CORRECT LYME DIAGNOSIS, TOM’S DOING WELL.

LIZ HESS’ BODY USED TO SUDDENLY... FREEZE.

Liz Hess — “When I’d see myself on camera I’d just cry....”

THIS IS BEFORE HIS LYME WAS DIAGNOSED.

Tom Coffey — “Right now I’m just so... so grateful for Dr. Bach.”

DR. GREGORY BACH IS A MEMBER OF THE INTERNATIONAL LYME AND ASSOCIATED DISEASES SOCIETY... OR “ILADS.”

Dr.  Gregory Bach — “I see a lot of misdiagnosed cases come through my office.”

ILADS HAS JUST PUBLISHED THE FIRST EVIDENCE-BASED GUIDELINES, TEACHING DOCTORS HOW TO ACCURATELY RECOGNIZE AND TREAT LYME.

Dr. Nick Harris — “The CDC reports lyme could be unde-reported by tenfold. So instead of 20,000 there could be 200,000 cases of Lyme.”

ONLY ABOUT HALF OF LYME VICTIMS EVER REMEMBER BEING BITTEN BY A TICK, AND FEWER THAN HALF EVER GET THE BULL’S-EYE RASH SOME DOCTORS THINK THEY NEED TO SEE BEFORE TESTING.

ILADS’ NEW GUIDELINES LIST ALL THE SYMPTOMS AND PROVIDE THE KIND OF INFORMATION THAT GAVE TOM COFFEY NEW HOPE FOR A LONG LIFE AND GAVE HIM NEW ENERGY HE NAMED AFTER DR. BACH.
