What are your hours of operation?

IGeneX is open Monday through Friday 8:00 am – 5:00 pm, PST (Except Holidays). Our phlebotomy hours are Monday through Friday 8:30 am – 4:00 pm, PST.

Is IGeneX a licensed laboratory?

Yes, IGeneX is licensed by CMS (Centers of Medicare and Medicaid Services) and the state of California.  In addition we are licensed in all the states that require licensing (New York, Florida, Maryland, Pennsylvania, and Rhode Island).We are a CLIA certified high complexity testing laboratory.

Thus, we are held to high quality standards and regulations, with on site inspections by State and Federal inspectors every two years.

How do I order testing at IGeneX?

A physician’s request is required for testing to be performed at IGeneX.You may order a test kit if your physician agrees to test you for Lyme or the other tick-borne disease.  You can then take the kit to your physician’s appointment. To view our price list, click here.

How do I order a test collection kit?

Our test kits are free of charge and can be ordered by anyone wishing to have their physician order and send testing to us.   The kit contains all tubes, paperwork and shipping materials. IGeneX pays for the shipping cost to the Laboratory.

My doctor’s office does not draw blood. Where can I get my blood drawn?

Please refer to the list of recommended drawing labs. If you do not live close to any of the listed drawing labs, then consult with the local labs in your area, or the local hospital.

Can IGeneX draw blood?

Yes, IGeneX has qualified phlebotomists to draw blood for tests performed at IGeneX.  See hours above.

Why are certain tests not yet available for New York Residents?

These are tests that have not yet been submitted or approved by New York State, Department of Health for use by for New York residents.

Why do certain Nurse Practitioners order tests for their patients and some may not?

Each state has its own regulations for the Nurse Practitioners. Some States allow Nurse Practitioners to order tests.

How long does it take to get test results?

Generally between 10-15 business days.  Testing may be delayed if all required information on the request form is not provided.

Which tick-borne diseases does IGeneX test for?

Lyme Disease, Tick-borne Relapsing Fever, Babesiosis, Bartonellosis, Ehrlichiosis, Rickettsiosis (Rocky Mountain Spotted Fever).  In addition, we also test for Chlamydia pneumonia.

How does a doctor set-up a client account?

Once we receive a sample from a new doctor, we automatically verify their information, and set them up with an account in our Laboratory Information System.

Does IGeneX bill insurance?

No, IGeneX does not bill insurance, except for Medicare “PART B”.  We do send each patient a statement with the required information to submit to the insurance provider for patient reimbursement.

Is IGeneX FDA approved?

IGeneX is not required to be FDA approved.  IGeneX provides services on clinical samples. We do not sell test kits.
